How we choose products.
In Your shades we tell you which makeup suits each of the 12 color seasons, with the exact name of every shade. Here is how we choose it and how the links to stores work.
By color season, shade by shade
Each sub-season has its palette with HEX codes: lips, blush, eyeshadow and wardrobe basics. We choose each product by comparing its shade with those colors, one by one, and it only goes in if it suits that season.
A shade only goes in if we find it on a real store or brand page, with its exact name, in the country of the list: Mexican stores in Spanish, US stores in English, Brazilian stores in Portuguese and French stores in French. We keep that page and the date we checked it.
We re-check every shade at least every 90 days. If it's discontinued, sold out or we can't confirm its name, it comes off the list and, if there's a verified shade that looks like it, we replace it with that one. If the store lists the shade under another name, we tell you next to the product.
Affiliate links
Some links in Your shades may be affiliate links: if you buy through them, the store or the affiliate network may pay us a commission. You pay the same: the commission doesn't change the price and doesn't come out of your pocket.
Every list says so at the top and at the bottom. For makeup, the button says “Buy at…” when the link is an affiliate link and “See shade at…” when it isn't.
We don't sell those products: the purchase, shipping, exchanges and returns are with the store.
Recommendations don't depend on commissions
We choose by color, never by commission. A product goes on or off a list because of its shade and its verification, whether or not it has an affiliate link, and we never change a recommendation because of what a store pays.
Many links in the lists don't earn any commission. If two products tie on color, we may show both.
Prices and availability
Prices are approximate and in each country's currency. The store may change them or run out of stock: check the final price at the store before you pay.
Cookies and your data
Our site doesn't load code or cookies from stores or affiliate networks, and we don't give them your data. If you click, the store or the affiliate network may use its own cookies to know you came from here, under its own privacy notice.
